About Obesity Week

The Obesity Week online newsletter, presenting the latest news on the battle against obesity, is one of a family of specialized medical newsletters brought to you by Medical Week News, Inc.

This is NOT a weight-loss site. You will not find weight-management advice, diet suggestions, or a guide to weight-loss medications here. Obesity Week was created to provide the latest news and information on the global obesity crisis.

On this site, you can read about new research into causes of obesity, risks that stem from being overweight or obese, how obesity interrelates with a variety of other diseases and conditions such as diabetes, and societal efforts to address the problem of obesity.

Obesity Week is a free newsletter supported by Medical Week News, Inc. and advertisements presented on the site by Google, which are clearly identified under the banner "Ads by Google."

Medical Week News, Inc. is an independent company, founded by a group of leading medical and information professionals. Board members include academic surgeons at leading U.S. medical schools and journalists who ran major worldwide news-gathering organizations. The chief executive, Milton R. Benjamin, is a former editor of the Washington Post Company.

Beyond providing highlights of each week's developments related to obesity, Obesity Week intends to become a forum for the expression of views by the nation's leading medical professionals.
